The strategy for Tolworth Primary School was to design a stand-alone two-storey classroom block that would allow future expansion.

This innovative approach was a response to pupil numbers being expanded over several years, allowing the local authority to manage their budgets more effectively.

The form was driven as a contextual response to the relationship the building shares with both the existing school and neighbouring properties with the pitched roof echoing the residential character of the area.

Careful detailing to the window surrounds and external brick soffit modernise the traditional brick construction and create a contemporary form.
