Kings Court Phase 2

Kings Court is a Grade II listed building at the heart of Bath city centre. Originally built as townhouses, the buildings were later remodelled into a department store. Flats were later added to this historic building during the 1950s. These flats did not contribute the historic fabric of the building and have sat vacant for a number of years. Our brief was to provide a contemporary refurbishment of the units to provide eight penthouse apartments.

The listed façade has been retained with dark bronze metalwork introduced to both the building entrance and roof level to compliment the traditional bath stone masonry. Texture has also been brought to the glass infill panels to the balustrade via reeded glass, which also helps to obscure visibility from the street level. All Residential terraces have been refurbished to make the most of the panoramic views over the city centre and Bath Abbey

The apartment layouts have also been improved to offer open plan living space, connected to both external terraces and internal lightwells for daylighting and outdoor amenity. The internal rooflights have also been refurbished to ensure natural light throughout the floorplans. Bespoke joinery provides much needed storage throughout as well as bringing natural warmth to an otherwise understated palette.
