Burlington Junior School is an existing 4 Form Entry (FE) school located on a constrained site shared with Burlington Infant School. TPM Studio worked with the school and Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames over several years to develop a strategy for replacing its life-expired CLASP classroom block while expanding the school by 1FE, increasing capacity from approximately 480 to 600 pupils.

The completed scheme emerged through a rigorous process of review and analysis, balancing the opportunities and constraints of the site with the needs of pupils, staff, stakeholders and the wider community. The result is a cohesive reorganisation of the campus, centred on a new three-storey teaching building alongside the refurbishment and integration of the retained Victorian block.

Planning permission was granted in February 2022, with the proposals described as “sympathetic, well articulated, high quality and visually attractive”. Construction commenced in July 2023 and was carefully phased to allow the school to remain operational without temporary classrooms. The new teaching building was completed in April 2025, followed by refurbishment works to the Victorian block in November 2025, completing the transformation of the campus.
