TPM Studio have been appointed by the London Borough of Islington to design a new Family Hub on Ironmonger Row in Islington. The commission, secured through a joint competition entry in December 2022, will seek to rejuvenate the existing Kings Square Community Nursery and Toffee Park Adventure Playground, providing upon completion a ‘one stop shop’ for the local community to support the Bright Starts and Bright Futures programmes within the south of the borough.

As part of the competition entry, TPM Studio collaborated with other design-based SME’s located within Islington, to demonstrate social value and our commitment to sustainability where we sought to propose a vision which retained as much of the existing building as possible.

Our appointment includes extensive consultation with officers from varying departments within the Council, in addition to external Stakeholder groups, who use the existing centre, are located within the community or have an interest in the services that will be provided through the new facility. Having been based in Islington for coming up to a decade its certainly refreshing to be able to walk to site and we very much look forward to updating the website as the scheme progresses.
